From the Install document at http://courier.sourceforge.net/install.html under the bold "OPTIONAL: Configure ESMTP authentication and SSL" heading... "Courier supports authenticated ESMTP in order to grant ESMTP relaying privileges to remote users. The following steps set up authenticated ESMTP: ..."
