Hi list, It's been a bit of a mission migrating our prevous exim / tpop3d server over to courier, but I think we are almost there. Most of the problems have been my fault, takes a while to get used to a new mail system when you have been using the last one for 5 years or so.
First problem I ran in to, was the Debian binaries in sid had a broken authdaemon, am now using the binaries in woody, and they are working perfectlly. Local users, that is users in /etc/shadow that are getting authenticated via pam are working perfectly which is a great start. I am putting our virtual users in MySQL and authenticating them via the authmysql module, I figured it would be easier to manage in MySQL than userdb files :). users are authenticating and then I am getting permission errors on the Maildir. Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Hello there. user [EMAIL PROTECTED] +OK Password required. pass xxxxxx -ERR Maildir: Permission denied Connection closed by foreign host. I have a group called vmail and a user called vmail, vmail:x:1006:1006::/home/vmail:/bin/false I created the dir /home/vmail/fluxxproductions/blah then did a maildirmake /home/vmail/fluxxproductions.com/blah/Maildir and chown -R vmail.vmail /home/vmail/fluxxproductions.com/blah so everything is owned by the right user. Then in MySQL I set the UID and GID fields to 1006 which is the uid and gid of the vmail user. Can anyone see anything wrong with what I have outlined above? Second question. I know courier comes with it's own mailing list module, but is it possible to use mailman with courier? The only reason I ask this, is because many list administrators like the web interface that mailman offers. If this is possible can I use the standard sendmail style aliases test-request: "|/usr/lib/mailman/bin/wrapper command test" I read the man page for makealiases, but didn't notice much about commands in aliases. Once again, help is hugely appreciated.
