That seems pretty clean to me. I suppose the other thing which could be done
is to have an LDAP_GLOB_HOMEDIR setting for accounts which don't have a
HOMEDIR.

I've hacked my own version of authldap to allow for my directory design, and part of that I've got something that provides a 'LDAP_GLOB_HOMEDIR' type option.

The main thrust of my authldap is to allow me to to multiple lookups to find the user, and then to build the user's auth info from the set of ldap objects found during the lookup. Contact me if you want a copy. I would be very happy to get another pair of eyeballs looking at it.

Warning Will Robinson: lots of code that only I have tested... this code probably causes cancer in lab rats.
