OK.  That's what I was trying to figure out when I asked if /home was
mounted on NFS:  just wanted to make sure locking wasn't an issue.

What client was having the problems?  I got complaints of clients
hanging from Outlook users, but Evolution was working fine at the time. 
It may be a client-specific issue (or maybe Evo just isn't using IDLE...
I don't know)
