AFAIK, the port maintainer has not been reachable.

I am almost done testing a series of steps/instructions which allow direct
use of Sam's latest tarballs on FreeBSD.

Much less work to keep it current than a 'proper' port, and seems to get
the job done.

Has been tested on 5.0-RELEASE, but want to test it also on 4.7 &
4.8/RC-1.

If anyone is interested in experimenting, can an e-mail with the steps,
but still sort of 'alpha'.
