YASN (yet another social network) does seem like a bad idea. But with all the privacy problems and lack of real data ownership issues around Facebook and Twitter I've changed my mind. I'm fed up with them. I want to put my energy in something new. I miss the spirit of the early Internet. These new wall gardens are bad for diversity.
Creating a micro social network just for Coworking could allow us to write our own privacy policy & community values. A coworking.com community could help us harness our communal power without sacrificing our space's individuality. This doesn't mean we would swear off all other social networks.
