It depends on your size and activity. We had one restroom for our 1800
square foot office and it never seemed to be a problem. Our current office
is 5000 square space and has three bathrooms - it's almost always fine, once
in a while they're all occupied.

My personal opinion is that it comes with more baggage than it could
possibly be worth. Think hard about what that means. If you have a strong
positive relationship with the city, it can be very beneficial. The guys at
Gangplank in Chandler, AZ seem to have done it "right", in that respect.

*What I'd avoid is a situation where you "need" the city in order to exist.
*

That's a tenacious way to start a relationship if you intend to make an
impact, or be free to do the things you ultimately need to do to make a
coworking community successful. We've got a very positive relationship with
our City but wouldn't operate well with them as a "sponsor". They like us
and like what we're doing, and happily support us by keeping out of the way
and periodically pointing to us as an example of a "job well done".

Do what you need to do, but figure out what your goals are first. If the
city's goals strongly align, it can be a very valuable relationship. If they
only align superficially, or not at all - let them come to you before you go
to them.
