Non-human things are a source of use-values. Non-human things can also be a
source of exchange-values if and only if they are scarce.

CB: Marx doesn't agree with this. He doesn't talk about scarcity making non-human
things a source of exchange-value.

It's not the action of
these things which creates this value but only their scarcity. Once upon a time
there was a dream about technique overcoming the scarcities of nature. In a
world where this dream is coming close to relization, non-human things have
nearly nothing to do with exchange-values. But when the dream fails...
