Right. In fact there is now an open crisis of legitimation in US state and civil
society.
Thanks to both Tom and Stan for their last postings, and also Julien.
It is desperately important that people strive to put illusion aside and begin to
understand just how serious this is, and how inescapable is the historical impasse
now faced by world capitalism. Billions will die. That is already certain. The real
problem will be to save SOMETHING from the wreckage, and to try to ensure that some
form of sustainable ecosphere continues.
Only will people begin to see that this is truly a life-and-death situation will
they lose their fear and understand just what needs to be done. But I am deeply
pessimistic about our chances, I admit. I think we've left it too late.
