I agree. (I think David was suggesting moving things around if
selecting the third column should not be possible for some reason, but
I don't think it'll be.)

I wouldn't like that. If you do have more than two save games, you're
probably switching a lot (at least I am), so hiding the information
about the character and game mode makes selecting one of them more
work.
