There's still a lot of issues with mimics. I have put a suggestion to fix
them on the
wiki<https://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:brainstorm:monster:existing_monsters#mimic>.
While the change is important, it might not be worse than fixing all the
bugs of the current implementation. Also, feature mimics is a new feature of
0.8. Would be cool to do it well right away. So, I think it would be worth
it to do this before 0.8 release, even if it pushes the release by a week or
2.
