CRX: car won't start

I have a 1993 Honda Civic Lx that will not start.  When I turn the key it turns over, and if I give it gas it'll make this weird sort of a bubbly sound and then die.  The exhost smells like gas.  So given that what should I do?  Any suggestions to what might be wrong?   -Lance black 88 si
