Hey guys, it was me with the cure for the "gurgles." Every time I hit a
"won't start" problem the first thing that comes to mind is DISTRIBUTOR.
Check your rotor- the aftermarket rotors come with a flimsy screw and I mean
FLIMSY. The screw is supposed to lock the rotor to it's mark, but the cheap
ones don't and the screw falls out allowing the rotor to slip. The "gurgle"
is the rotor coming around here & there randomly firing one of the cylinders
usually at bottom dead center.

After installing an after-market rotor (dang things were back-ordered at the
dealer), I was still able to move the rotor +/- several degrees with the
screw somewhat tight. I centered the rotor best I could, locked it down
hard, then dabbled a little silicone on the screw to keep it from falling
out, then had to set the timing by feel (hard to describe but it works)
since the timing marks were now useless.

Are you getting any spark? Are you getting a strong enough spark? First
thing I would try after checking for spark would be to pull the distributor
cap off and scrape the slag off the contacts/terminals (whatever you would
like to call them) Then see if it's strating any better. I don't remember
who cleared this up for me, but someone said that the gurguling sound is the
fuel trying to ignite at a location other than TDC.

I had a similar problem, and ended up getting a MSD setup.
