Are you getting any spark? Are you getting a strong enough spark? First thing I would try after checking for spark would be to pull the distributor cap off and scrape the slag off the contacts/terminals (whatever you would like to call them) Then see if it's strating any better. I don't remember who cleared this up for me, but someone said that the gurguling sound is the fuel trying to ignite at a location other than TDC.
