Willy,

Did you check under the distributor cap for a slipped rotor?  I had
exactly the same symptoms and the dang screw holding the rotor in place
had slipped out causing the rotor to start spinning out of whack.

Here's my latest dilema...

Car was lightly sputtering under modest acceleration.  Did it for a
couple of blocks, and then stopped.  About 30 miles later, no
sputtering, but check engine light comes on...  code is 4 long, and 3
short.

Anyone?

I'm thinking possible clogged fuel filter, or pump going bad.  May need
a new distributor cap...haven't checked anything yet.
