Getting rid of the outlines didn't get rid of the scrollbar for me either on
Firefox 6.01 on a Windows computer. I didn't try removing overflow:auto.
But, removing the height declaration on the div did work for me.

OK..going thru all the suggestions made for learning purposes; trying to see
which one works here..

just commented out all of the outlines, and for me, on Safari 5, didn't get
rid of that scrollbar.

why would that work for some, but not for me?

back to wrangling that code..
