Yep. This is normal. They've recently started checking almost EVERYTHING 
whereas before you had sort of a lucky draw about whether they checked the 
contents of your package or not. When you pickup the book you should get a SARS 
statement which shows why they're charging R45. It sounds like the value of 
your purchase was over $100?

I recently bought a java book from Amazon.Now the book is at the post office
, but apparently I have to pay R45 to collect it.Is this normal?
I've bought books before from Manning and was never asked to pay anything
extra at the post office.
