Certainly, if you are in the position to dictate what should be used,
make it as open as possible has been my motto too. Although, I have
seen some build processes taking up more development time than they
should. I guess we like tinkering.

I meant fear of change in general, developers from 'other'
environments are less likely to make drastic changes during a
development cycle.
