We have no limit on holds that can be placed, but don't seem to have this
problem. Our hold list can be quite long at times, so we encourage patrons
to get in line for anything they want. We do purchase additional copies
when our items have more than 6 holds per copy, and we limit check out to 2
weeks with no renewals.
We limit ILL requests to 2 at a time.

We limit our holds to three for a single card and six on a family card at
any one time.
We limit the ILL requests to five at a time.
Hope this helps.

What does your library do about reserves or holds when a patron asks
for many (14 or 15) and then looks them over & chooses only one or
two to check out?
Do you charge a small fee (25 cents or so) to reserve a book, and
does this stop the overzealous users?
One of our librarians wants to know. Her staff has been feeling
frustrated lately with patrons who seem to be abusing this service.
Thanks for your comments.
