The same claim as one has to one's life. Your argument can be made just
as easily for one's life as for one's property. If your argument is
correct, then what claim do you have to your life? Can it not be
disposed of by others just as easily (if not more so) than your
property? Our founding fathers wrote: "We hold these truths to be self
evident". Perhaps they were wrong. However, it seems self evident to me
that I have a right to my life and thus to those products of my life
which I create as a means to sustain and benefit my life.

Now I realize that there are some who do not believe in the concept of
"rights". To their arguments (and perhaps you are one of them?) I do not
propose to argue. However, I cannot consider those who would basically
argue that "might makes right", etc. to be those with whom I would wish
to associate in any way. And, I would wish to work with others who would
agree with me that we do have "rights" to protect them. This is the
basis of government ("and to secure these rights governments are
instituted among men"). It is the belief in the concept of "rights"
which is the basis of all law. Without it there can only be tyranny or
anarchy. (Though perhaps one could have a rather pleasant anarchy if all
believed in the concept of "rights" but not in force?).
