Yup, many factors, but all hinging on the willingness to experiment,
to test ideas, rather than submit to doctrine. The generally better
health of Western life lifestyles involves sanitation, modern medicine,
a systematic approach to life sciences. If ya don't buy into the
germ theory of disease, ya have a hard time dealing with disease. If
ya don't relentlessly scrutinize the factors relating to disease and
health, ya have a hard time reducing disease and improving health. The
proof is in the pudding - traditional societies, doctrinaire societies,
aren't nearly as conducive to health & happiness as the Western world.
If traditional Indian life & medicine were appealing, the world would
be flocking into India. People aren't dumb. They vote with their
feet. Those who can, head to Europe, North America, Australia, etc.
