Well, there's a big difference between a sub and a regular, certified,
teacher. But I see your point. Maybe the problem is that there is a great
shortage of teachers because the job doesn't pay all that well, vis a vis
what it takes to accomplish. Anybody with the education and the cognitive
abilities to teach can go into private industry and make far more money.
Also, the teacher's union seems a lot more interested in protecting their
own bureaucrats and in promoting a federal agenda, than they are in
securing better pay and working conditions for their own members. Unions
in general have failed to fulfill their promise. They are not rally
organizations of working people. They are labor brokers, businesses in
their own right, and little more than a form of outsourced middle
management.
