Ireland does not have an immigration policy restricting immigration to Catholics. Decendants of former Irish citizens (former residents of Ireland) may apply for dual citizenship. However non - Israeli Jews have no prior connection to Israel (except via 2000 year old religious myths). Addtionally, Israel has an active recruitment policy to bring in Jews - they claim they 'need' more people (non -Jews need not apply). Egypt is a police state also subsidzed to a degree by the US. The difference is that Egypt does not colonize a few million non-Egyptians. The subsidy to Egypt is at the behest of the pro Israeli lobby in order to protect the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. Egypt is resented throughout the Arab world because of its failure to really support Palestinian freedom (rather then provide lip service), This is because Mubarak is considered a US flunky. The reality is that angry Egyptians are probably the main driving force behind Al Qaeda, not Saudi Arabia. The difference is that Israel is a legal state with the legal responsibilities of a state. The Palestinians are not a state but a subjugated stateless people. Any terrorism is a response to oppressive occupation and is carried out by individuals and private groups - not by a state.
