And how do you like cable modem access?

Any reason the IP has to be static? I ask because, I have a cablemodem at home via Charter which is dynamic. So I setup a Linux box behind the router and am running ddclient which updates my domainname with my dynamic IP. Although the cwelug wiki page is down (because it's on a Valunet line), you can still search the mail archives for ddclient:

Once you setup ddclient a couple of times, it's really simple, but those first few times can be a bit of a hurdle. I'd be happy to walk you through it, if need be.
