Thank you for your response.  When I query the modem
this is the data that is displayed:

ATI: 57600
ATI 1:CD08.55 - 738C PCMCIA - DSP PATCH: 3.20
ATI 2:ROM TEST OK
ATI 3:MD56xx
ATI 4:Intel Corporation
ATI 5:Full V.92 Upgradeable  Present, 32K DSP RAM.000 
Host I/F:  P. Mem. : 008 Bit 001 W.S.   D. Mem  : 008
Bit 001 W.S.   DSP loc : INT ROM
ATI 6:USA 1
ATI 7:Intel Corporation

So, it look like it is able to communicate with the
modem.  

What shall I try next?
