Robert. Dug up Knoppix 3.7 and it works beautifully with 'fb800x600'. Even brought up my flash drive on the desktop. Think I'll retire my abused 3.1. Tried my ubuntu, and the disk vibrates awful, but I risked startup by damping the cd drive, and found I couldn't get the screen to 800x600. It defaulted to 640x480 and covered only 2/3 of the screen. The option was availabe but couldn't get it to work. Options are not clear like knoppix. Fired Ubuntu as I don't like the vibrating gnome desktop. Will try the kde version when available to me.
