Way too different compared to what? KDE and GNOME, sure. twm? fluxbox? xfce? Compared to those, IceWM + ROX seems at least somewhat sane. If there's something better out there, I'm all ears. I don't think I'm asking for much: a file manager, an application menu, and a desktop with icons. Maybe IceWM with the ROX desktop. I haven't tried that, yet. BTW, if you bump the RAM from 128 MB to 630 MB, Ubuntu works quite well on 500 MHz. KDE on Ubuntu also works fair enough.
