Hi Robert: I had some of the same problems. I installed ubuntu on a
amd 64 machine. I found a program called automatix2. it installed all
the codecs and other things. It is a gooey front end for apt-get.
They had a version for 6.10. They have a version for 6.06 also. Go
to getautomatix.com . Thomas Kirk
