Hi Sean,

No other version installed that I know of ... this install/configuration
has been working since I set up this machine, then suddenly quit working
when the December 18 system updates got posted. Pidgin's filetransfer
with Jabber has never worked, but that isn't a big deal.

I'm planning on upgrading to 8.10, it's just that things got
whirlwind-busy and I haven't had the time to even set up and configure
our new NAS, let alone do new installs.

But "install a new OS" shouldn't (in my book anyway) be the solution to
"this application quit working two weeks ago". And it's more annoying
that it works on the same equipment through virtualbox with a newer
version of Ubuntu and Pidgin.

I guess one way to see if it's 7.10 specifically would be to make a new
virtualbox install for 7.10 and see if Pidgin works or not (except the
"no time" factor makes that tough). It's got to be something between
Pidgin and Jabber, though, because the Yahoo accounts connect just fine,
no SSL errors.

Thanks for the input!

t.
