I finally got access to my outside line (shared with a co-worker until we think to get a switch installed), and cranked up Adium. Works fine for me (with lots of noise from Yahoo! spam/scam attempts) -- I had been using the Web chat tool and it's been working fine, too (actually chatted with R Citek yesterday, so it is actually working). Sounds like it may have been a transient problem, fixed before some of us could actually have a look.
