It is a disgrace for several reasons. The organisation behind
the sculpture seem to be using Lennon's popularity as a means
of promoting anti-gun propoganda to the masses, as if to say
"if there were no guns Lennon would be alive today" - which of
course we all know is utter rubbish because Hinckley was a
class A fruitcake and could have killed Lennon with any number
of potentialy deadly impliments.
Sculptures to "post modern deities" such as Lennon have no
permanent place in Trafalgar Square, especially ones which are
really vehicles for other agendas. Take away Lennon's undoubted
song writing talent and you are left with a drug abusing, tax
evading ratbag who gave up on Britain to become a fully fledged
US citizen.
To place such a sculpture at a known gathering point for those
who protested against the confiscation of handguns in this
country and importantly at a place where future marches of
tens of thousands of people who are allied to shooting sports
will take place is either rank stupidity or an almighty snub.
Of course everyone has a right to an opinion, however in this
case it appears the "opinion" is a little difficult
to separate from the "propoganda".

Please tell me where in the statement "I doubt it will survive
another march unscathed" do I promote vandalism as "the way
forward" - it is merely an observation based on the sculpture's
potential to antagonise a group of wronged people.

Actually I think the reason for it is because no-one else wanted
the sculpture, so they had to find some excuse to dump it in
London!
