The survival of the bacteria may be explained by the fact
that in inhospitable conditions certain organisms become
spores (almost seeds of the original germ) to await more
hospitable conditions. I am sur ethere are more qualified
people on the list who can provide a nuumber of possible
methodologies for achieveing such results.
It was fairly well known that Britain produced stocks of
poison gases and biological and chemical poisons in WW2
as did Germany and America, probably the Russians as
well. They were not used as if the other side had
retaliated in kind there was no real defence, as sort of
stand off we later experienced with nuclear weapons.
I was told that large quantities of anthrax were still
stored at Prton Down many years later as it is so
difficult to destroy and in its spore state can be safely
stored for years. Remember anthrax was tested on a
Scottish island in 1940 (Gruinard?) and it wasn't declared
safe for re-occupation and farming until the late 1990's
as there was too many anthrax spores still present in the
soil. Would you really want large quantities of this stuff
used agaunst your enemies or yourself?
Heydrich was travelling in an open topped staff car with
leather covered horsehair seats and it has been reported
that the explosion of the grenade(s) led to fragments of
the seat leather and horsehair being driven into his body
as well as grenade fragments. These were believed to have
caused the infections that killed him, not unusual at that
time. Conspiracy theorists have suggested additional
poisoning agents but as many on the list will know the
detonation of a grenade in a confined space is often fatal,
ether immediately or soon after. What advantage would a
'poisoned' grenade have for such a purpose?
