Just on this one specific point.
On Radio 4 this afternoon, a solicitor who specialises in speeding offences
was quizzed on this specific point and stated that he had strong anecdotal
evidence from a close contact in the CPS that one force actually took six
officers off of a murder enquiry because of lack of financial input from
this source.
I make no judgement on that point but merely report what BBC radio saw fit
to broadcast.
However in a world where we have just had the first privately funded
policeman announced to the world I don't find it hard to believe that there
is at least an unspoken link between input to government coffers and the
level of funding to specific force areas.
