What gives? Can Wilson truly not afford asphalt? With all the talk about
increasing fuel efficiency, this method of "paving" counters fuel
efficiency slightly by making the surface much rougher, thus increasing
the rolling resistance of the car tires. If all the roads in Wilson Co
are eventually "paved" this way, the impact could be noticeable
concerning fuel efficiency, not to mention tire wear.

The gravel paving is new.I rode from work today trying to build up to
the Wednesday pace again. It is terrible. They also paved Firestone
Parkway the same way.

Subject: [COWs] Wednesday Evening Ride Report!

Matt, Jim, Mike K. and I rolled out old Raleigh Rd. and back through
Rock Ridge for lots of hills. Our usual pace! Jim & Mike headed back
to Wilson while Matt and I added Sims to the route for a few extra
leisurely miles. Finally got Matt to slow up enough to chat for a
while. Jim looking sharp in his new threads, and he's also got a little
extra kick in his ride lately. BTW no riding on north 58 or Packhouse
Rd. for a while. I cannot believe they put that gravel on 58. Somebody
please give Wilson County some real asphalt.

Tim
