A few days ago I reported a problem with a missing DLL (tcl84.dll) after
installing QT4. Since then I've found all sorts of things that aren't
working any more and out of frustration I decided to do a 'rebaseall' this
morning. This flagged up that a whole load of libraries had mysteriously
disappeared including libgtk-X11, libgdk-X11, libpango and libglitz.

I re-installed them all this afternoon but now jackd (which was working this
morning) has stopped working too. After the usual copyright message it says
"Bad system call" and exits. I uninstalled and re-installed but that didn't
fix the problem So I figured another rebaseall might help. But it produces
this output:-

/usr/lib/bonobo/monikers/cygmoniker_gnome_vfs_std.dll: skipped because
nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/libcppeditor.dll: skipped because nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/libdlgplugin.dll: skipped because nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/libgladeplugin.dll: skipped because
nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/libkdevdlgplugin.dll: skipped because
nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/librcplugin.dll: skipped because nonexistent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/designer/libwizards.dll: skipped because nonexistent

and jackd still isn't working.... :-(

When installing from cygwin-ports I always follow the instructions on the
cygwin-ports main page but I'm rapidly losing confidence in it because every
time I install a package, at least four other things either get lost or stop
working. Can anyone explain what might be happening??

Thanks,

John
