This is almost an absurd point. 
The distro cmake is unsuitable to build distro package. 
I was obliged to use Ports cmake to build qhull

and I also successufully built VTK

I have the feeling that cmake developers see cygwin only as 
a tool to build pure win32 package and not as a Unix platform
with its rules that are different from win32.
