It's an even bet that anything calling itself the 'Independent Institute'
isn't independent. It was not necessary to do anything illegal to determine
that its reports were partisan.

Oracle has made a major blunder however. They have been caught in the act
playing dirty tricks. That is not good when you are trying to use the
government to take out a competitor.

The problem with the likes of Ellison is that they simply want the
government to protect them from competition. Oracle is arguably a monopolist
in the enterprise database space. Microsoft is the only company to have
developed a competing product.

Oracle's campaign could only work if they were the good guy and Microsoft
was the baddie. It is begining to sound as if Ellison was projecting his own
faults onto Gates.
