Don't assume that the word "independent" in a name is anything more
than syntactic sugar, advertising, and proselytizing. "Independent"
is just another loaded term, like "freedom," "security,"
"democratic," and all the other buzzwords of our time.
This relates to a topic we were discussing recently, the inclusion of
loaded terms like "Freedom" into names for computer services.
Does anyone really think the "Democratic People's Republic" is any of
these? Or that the "Independent Children's Internet Security Guaranty
Department" is anything but?
