There is no reason for this language, there are a lot of us who like Windows, and if you look at the numpy/scipy mailinglist then the only build issues are with the hundreds of versions of unix/linux. I find it extremely difficult to do anything in a bash shell, because they screwed up every command and shortcut key compared to windows.
