I haven't downloaded EB POSTGRES for about 6 months and I did not see anything like what you are suggesting. There was a small update app. but I just removed it from the startup. Other that the update app. there was nothing that a user would notice (other than opening the task manager) to say I have postgres running in the background. Check on the EB site to see what they have to say!
