Well, in light of your responses I guess I should share "the rest of the
story". I'd hoped to find a normal, rational answer, but your
conclusions....well unfortunately they fit. I'll start by saying that I am
not a believer in the supernatural, sure aliens exist somewhere but I don't
believe we are on some superhighway or that they even visit. I worked
homicide for a few years and saw that when people die they are gone. I don't
believe in ghosts, gosh...I'm not even religious....then we moved here.
Strange things have been happening since we moved in. Objects
appearing...our bathroom tub faucet handles appear in different places.
Lights which suddenly don't work...and in a flash do again...switches being
turned off when you just turned them on. I was alone here one night when we
were moving...no dogs just me. I was reading a book at about 3 am when
something started rolling down the hall. The house is a 'fixer upper' and
there's no carpet in the hall only wood. Whatever was coming started picking
up speed and bouncing...louder and faster. I was frozen in fear. A faucet
handle bounced into the living room, onto the carpet and stopped in the
middle of the floor. I was out the door in a flash...screaming with no one
around to hear. Then we moved in. Tim got up to use the bathroom one night,
when he entered he saw both handles on the tub where they should be. But when
he got back into bed a faucet handle was under his pillow...I can vouch for
him that no one put it there since I was not fully asleep. The dogs growl
and bark at empty rooms on occasion, and the temperature seems to fluctuate
for no reason. No matter how diligent we are at turning our lights out, the
bathroom light is always on when we return home. Tim swears it's a ghost or
poltergeist...and at risk of sounding like a complete loon...this nonbeliever
has started to believe. So far everything's been harmless, but this thing
with Zeus just terrifies me. I assumed it was just something with the
house....perhaps it's the woods. Sorry for gushing, I'm really a rather
rational person but this is all driving me crazy and I haven't been able to
tell anyone as I don't want everyone to think I'm a nutcase. I was really
hoping that someone would have some sort of rational explanation for why Zeus
would stand in a clearing in the woods for 24 hours as that would be far
better than the alternative....Perhaps there's a reason we got this place so
cheap.
