They really need to be ground up for the dog's system to be able to digest
them properly.  Dogs do not have the digestive enzyme needed to break down
the cellulose in plant cells....but if you put the plant cells through a
juicer first...then give them to the dog...his body will be able to absorb
the nutrients.  Remember that when wild dogs eat vegetable matter, it is
either *very* ripe (fruit) or it has been eaten by another animal first
(they would get this by eating the stomach/intestine contents of a prey
animal).
