Creation time? Modified time? Last Access time?

Darktable has been designed to operate with particular assumptions
about xmp files, namely, that they are *not* the primary source of
information about an image. The primary source is your library.db.

I do this quite a bit. I copy my library.db across, along with the
raw images that I want to work on and when I'm finished working on
the other system, I copy my raw image files as well as the modified
library.db back to the primary system. I keep the same filesystem
layout for photos on each system I use darktable on, so that I don't
have to worry about files getting "lost" due to just being stored
somewhere else - I just cannot be bothered adding logic to the library
management code to go and remap files and directories.
