Pascal;

We apparently live in a world where many photographers are strangely
only interested in exporting their detailed and highly crafted images to
severely degraded versions on 'social networking sites'. One would think
that Darktable, above all, would have bucked that trend from the start
and considered fine printing at a higher priority level.

I do understand that a printing module is a seriously large undertaking
but one would think that some steps, such as you have suggested, would,
at least, be steps in the right direction. If simple (Lua) scripts will
achieve the ends that you have suggested, then, I would think, it should
also be simple to implement those same ends directly in the base program.

Serious photographers to whom I have shown dt, need fine printing and
find that jumping through hoops with Lua is unacceptable.
