Indeed! I've already spent quite some chunk of ink for the experiment
on printing on GNU/Linux.

For the action after export I'm still not convinced that a simple
solution coded in darktable is not the way to go. Lr has it, quite
handy and many users are using it. And I think that it is quite easy
to implement in dt... duno in Lua, no knowledge in this area. But I'm
challenging the fact that this is not a mainstream action.
