Hello Pascal,

As a simple Darktable user, I'd like first to thanks the whole team for the
tremendous work done so far - it is really a great tool and it is much
apreciated by your user community :-) Please keep on the good work :-)
What would be great integrating with GIMP would be the capabiltiy to export
to GIMP (using maybe the 16 bits features of latest GIMP 2.9) and keep the
GIMP native .XCF file referenced as a sort of 'attachment' to the original
image. It would be in the library, and could be reused later on for future
editing...
I currently export out of DT, edit in GIMP, and keep the XCF out of DT
scope - which is bad as I end up with a reference version in the library,
and a post processed version somewhere else...

Hope it makes sense.... That would be a very nice feature if you ask me!
[and could probably be extended as a sort of image "rendition" management,
with non-natively supported file formats referenced in DT but managed in
external application]

Anyway, feel free to ignore my request if it sounds silly!

Best Regards,
Francois Connetable
