I do have the header turned on, and yes, I can see The 3 symbols.

shows on mine openSUSE Tw
you probably don't have the header displayed.  you can toggle the header
area on/off.  or is it *only* the group simbol "G" that is not displayed.
I see three here, "G", "star" and "gear-wheel".  The toggle switch is the
triangle at the center top of the display.
