Yep, I've been burned by both of them. I used Nvidia exclusively for many years but then had a forced switch to AMD, then got burned by them recently and had to replace perfectly good card recently with the fglrx demise. I wouldn't know which of the two sorry alternatives to recommend really, my strategy is to buy a reasonably cheap mid performance card that I can afford to replace every couple of years if need be rather than regarding as a long term investement.
