Hello Tobias,
the default edid profile was exactly the problem.

I was able to google several reports of DT users being affected by
this issue. Judging by their screenshots, etc. GNOME seemed to be the
common denominator.

Luckily, the 'X atom' vs 'colord' discrepancy was resolved by a reboot.
