As I explained in my video on the Retouch Module, it's about doing
retouching on ALL the layers where the defect is visible.
So, if you've created 5 wavelet layers, it's conceivable that the defect
will be visible on 3 or 4 of those layers, but at differing levels of
"obviousness".
And you need to retouch each layer according to the size and shape of the
defect you want to fix.
But you don't HAVE to use multiple layers if you don't want to.
You can just retouch on the primary (original) layer.

Perhaps you could explain what you mean by 'layer' in this context.
DT is not GIMP, I don't see it being about layers.
